The preliminary results of the 2014 Zimbabwe "Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey" (MICS) designed and implemented by UNICEF in collaboration with ZimStat and mainly financed by the European Union were recently released and show a positive and encouraging trend: Crucial indicators for the health sector are significantly improving, amongst them the Maternal Mortality Ratio. Besides the improvement of the situation, the survey will also serve as a valuable tool for the Government of Zimbabwe and other stakeholders in the sector: The data allows for comparison to other countries and previous finding, and can help the Government to make informed policy decisions for the social sectors.
